Hardware Information for Roto Tom Drums

If you are trying to find the date of your roto tom drums you can look at a few indicators to determine how old they are. One key detail is the mounting system to the roto tom rail. Here are three versions that we have noticed while researching Roto Toms.

The first roto toms did not have any arm to release them from the rail. We estimate that the non-release rotos were used up until 1977/78.

This would be the first generation roto arm and was from the late 1970's. It is also pictured in the 1981 Remo Roto Tom Catalog.

This would be the second generation roto arm and was shown in the 1987 Catalog.
