This letter Dated October 16, 1986 appears to be a major transition for William F Ludwig II at a couples dinner meeting with the then President of Selmer H.W. Peterson and his wife Millie. WFII and Maggie met them for dinner to discuss his official departure from Selmer as an "Employee" on October 31, 1986 to a consulting agreement effective November 1, 1986. It also included a 1981 Cadillac which had been owned by Selmer which WFLII was driving. That car ended up in the hands of WFLIII and I did get to drive in it with WFLIII. It was a boat for sure! Then again WFLII loved boats.

As you read the letter, you will see how they scheduled WFLII at different conventions excluding him from the Frankfurt Convention because "It is time for the younger people to step forward" I would venture to guess that BII would have gone, because he loved to travel and had a lot of friends at that convention. My hunch is that it was a monetary decision on Selmer's behalf, but of course not mentioned.

The other interesting note is that no monetary discussions were mentioned in the letter. I would venture to guess that there was a verbal discussion, probably followed by a handshake, known as a gentleman's agreement. This of course was legal and binding, plus they had the wives as witnesses.
